When people ask me what’s the best dash cam to buy, my name is on the line. Hey, I was in law enforcement. I’m supposed to know this stuff. Doesn’t matter if the person asking has had a dash cam before or this is her first one. I always answer: Garmin. More specifically, I recommend the Garmin Mini 2. You can’t go wrong.
What’s good about the Garmin Mini 2?
Overall the Garmin Mini 2 meets its primary brief: recording high quality videos. The voice control works well and, as the name suggests, the cam is tiny, making it practically invisible to potential thieves. Some user report a drop off in the Garmin Drive App connection, but remember everything is backed up to the cloud via wifi so you can view videos later.
How much does the Garmin Mini 2 cost?
The dash cam comes in below $150.

Is the Garmin Mini 2 really the best dash cam to buy?
It’s not the best dash cam in existence and it’s for front video only. There is no cam included for filming what’s going on behind the car. But of course you can buy additional Mini 2 cams to film in front, behind and even to the sides if you want to.
But it’s small and inconspicuous and takes really good footage in high definition. You can use it for any vehicle, from a BMW to a Mini to a pickup. And this makes it good enough to present in court if there is a dispute about an accident, for example.
